JN: One day in June 2006. I missed Merrill Streep's voice, which seemed to be reciting low like an alto flute, so I borrowed "Out of Africa" again.

 

Her voice was much better than I thought. It was so good! Her narration across the grasslands of Africa was a low-pitched husky sound from a person who knew the pain of life and cared for life. The tone of the voice, height, speed... I'm immersed in all this.

 

Tane (Meryl Streep), who settled in Africa, is lost in thought as she sees her husband going hunting on his first day of marriage.

 

Her narration of courtesy follows.

"Men leave to test their courage,

When women live alone,

You get a patience test.

How well you endure loneliness.“

 

Her husband Bro's servility and constant injustice gradually emerge, and she gets closer to Dennis (Robert Redford), who is close to natural and free.

The friendship with Berkeley, who is also Dennis' friend, also adds to the dignity and emotion of the movie. Dennis and Berkeley, who stick together like a mate, and Merrill Streep join, making the three blend together like trios and they often enjoy games that create stories.

 

One night when Tane and Dennis camped in safari, the famous scene created between the two of Merrill Streep and Robert Redford. In the middle of the night when the bonfire burns, they dance in a field in Africa.

 

Who else can do that role if it's not Meryl Streep? The charm of Robert Redford's eyes and smile - no matter how old he is - completely disarms us.

 

Dennis recognizes to Tane that he can never own anything in his life and that everything is just passing by. Dennis, who says marriage is only one piece of paper.

 

In Dennis' tomb, Tane recited quietly.

- We didn't own him, and I didn't own him either.

 

Now Tane, who understands and respects the lives of African tribes,

I'm sweating while growing a coffee farm.

영화에 담긴 아름답고 낭만적인 로맨스가 책에는 언급조차 되어 있지 않답니다.

실제로 카렌과 데니스는 연인 사이였지만, 책만 보면 그들이 사랑을 나누었다는 어떤 암시조차 찾기 어려우며 그저 두 사람이 절친한 친구였음을 알수 있습니다.

 

카렌과 아프리카 원주민들이 나눈 것은 소작민이라는 주종 관계가 아닌 동등한 인간으로서의 우정이었으며, 카렌은 모든 것을 잃고 떠나면서도 농장의 키쿠유족에게 새 터전을 마련해 주기 위해 분투하는 것으로, 키쿠유족은 특별히 그녀를 위한 은고마(춤판)를 열어주는 것으로 서로에 대한 마음을 표현합니다.

 

젊고 철없던 시절엔 야생 동물을 종류별로 모두 사냥해야 직성이 풀리던 그녀이지만 나중에는 야생 동물을 그저 바라보는 것, 그 동물들과 이웃해 살아가는 것 자체의 행복을 깨닫습니다.

 

그 외에도 코로나로 변해가는 지금의 세상과 우리 모두에게 너무나 많은 깨달음이 될 책이라 소개합니다.

It was written in 1791 for the clarinetist Anton Stadler. It consists of the usual three movements, in a fast--slow--fast form (Allegro-Adagio-Rondo). It was one of Mozart's final completed works, and his final purely instrumental work (he died in the December following its completion). ‘Out of Africa’ 는 Sydney Pollack 감독, Robert Redford 와 Meryl Streep 주연의 영화로

케냐 커피농장을 배경으로 한 사랑과 모험의 서사시이며 실화를 바탕으로 만든 것이다.

 

1885년도 아카데미 최우수 작품상을 비롯한  7개 부문의 상을 석권한  명화인데  주제가는 클래식 연주곡으로  ‘모짜르트의 클라리넷 협주곡(A장조 K622 아다지오)’ 을 이용한 것이다.

 

벨기에의 디바  Dana Winner 가 이 영화와 연주곡이 마음에 들어  직접 가사를 붙이고 편곡을 하여 부른 곡이 'Stay With Me Till The Morning' 이다.

 

다시 말해서 영화에는 이 곡, 'Stay With Me Till The Morning' 이 나오지 않지만  오히려 실제 주제가보다 더 유명해지면서  이 곡이 영화의 주제곡인 것처럼 착각을  불러 일으키기도 한다^.^

 

그리고 영화 세트장의 일부를 보존하고 ‘Out of Africa Lodge’ 를 만들어 사파리 투어에 활용하며 많은 관광객을 모으고 있다.
