"흉터만 남은 영토"…울릉군민 심경 영상에 고스란히

기존과 다른 주제 홍보 영상 공개
짧은 분량에도 가슴 먹먹한 감동

 

 

울릉군은 최근 독도를 지킨 울릉군민의 심경을 고스란히 담은 조금은 특별한 독도 홍보영상을 공개했다. 사진 울릉군.



울릉군은 최근 조금은 특별한 독도 홍보영상을 공개했다.

독도 영유권 등 기존의 홍보 영상들에서 보여주던 묵직한 주제가 아닌 독도를 지킨 울릉군민의 심경을 고스란히 담았다.

독도의용수비대와 울릉도, 독도의 풍경들이 나열될 뿐 어떤 내레이션도 없이 분량 1분 27초, 시 운율에 맞춰 편집된 영상이다.

하지만 짧은 분량에도 불구하고 자막과 영상이 주는 감동은 충분하다.

특히, ‘그것이 서러워 누군가는 절규하듯 지켰습니다.’ 는 자막 뒤로 순직한 대원을 조문하고 돌아서는 홍칠순 대장의 모습은 가슴이 먹먹해지는 장면이다.

자막 내용은 다음과 같다.

‘태고의 바람이 변함없이 불어오는 섬

고단한 어부의 인기척마저 파도가 감싸 안은 섬

그러나 역사라는 시간 속에

아프고 쓰린 순간들만 흉터처럼 새겨진 영토

그 옛날, 누군가는 외롭다 이름 지었고

그것이 서러워 누군가는 절규하듯 지켰습니다.

이제 모두에게 말하고 싶습니다.

독도를 보아야 대한민국을 본 것입니다.

SNS와 모바일 활용을 위해 만든 이번 영상은 독도를 민족의 고향으로 인식시키며 오는 8월 8일 울릉도에서 치러질 ‘제4회 섬의 날’ 및 고향사랑기부제를 간접적으로 홍보한다.

남한권 군수는 “독도는 민족의 애환과 슬픔이 지금도 진행 중인 곳. 이제는 모든 국민이 울릉군민이 되어 슬픔을 걷어내야 할 때”라고 말했다.

Korea′s maritime police vow to protect nation′s easternmost Dokdo Island 독도 영토

Koreans swell with pride when they think about the country′s easternmost Dokdo island. Thousands make the trip across the choppy East Sea waters every year to see the place with their own eyes，... but a group of people stay there on and off protecting the far－flung piece of Korea′s land.

 

And it is a job that is particularly important given Japan′s continued claims over Dokdo.

Connie Kim reports. They are the guardians of Korea′s easternmost island of Dokdo.

 

They have the immense responsibility of protecting the two rocky outcroppings in the East Sea located between the Korean peninsula and Japan and they′re there to greet every visitor who makes the trip.

 

″What′s most memorable is when visitors hold our hands tightly and thank us for protecting Dokdo. They wave their Korean flags and shout， ′This is Dokdo ′ as soon as they get off the ferry.

″ Japan claimed the islets in 1905， just before it annexed Korea， but Korea reclaimed sovereignty over all of its territories around the peninsula， including Dokdo all the more reason for the Ulleung guards to be on standby 24－7.

As one of Korea′s recent efforts to defend the island， the Korean military and maritime police carried out a defense drill last week.

 

″Experts say Japan′s claims to Dokdo will continue， so it is crucial for Korea to reach out to people and organizations in Japan to prove once and for all that Dokdo is Korean territory no matter which way you look at it.

″ Japan repeated its claim to Dokdo in this year′s Diplomatic Bluebook， and currently 13 textbooks say Dokdo is ″illegally occupied by Korea.″

 

″More evidence showing Dokdo is Korean territory continues to be discovered in Japan， disproving Tokyo′s claims. Those works need to be translated into English to promote the findings.

″ This map... from Japan′s commerce ministry dating back to 1897，... and these... from another map compiled in 1948 are examples of how the Japanese government indentifies both Dokdo and the neighboring Ulleung－do island as Korean territory.

But， with Tokyo denying even its own historic data， Korea will continue to protect and defend the islands.
